Why "translating human precision medicine"
Human precision oncology has advanced rapidly over the past decade: targeted sequencing to guide therapy, organoid drug sensitivity screening, and individualized mRNA cancer vaccines entering clinical trials — and these routes share deep biological similarity between humans and dogs (the canine tumor genome is highly homologous to the human one). PETcura takes these validated platforms and applies them to canine and feline oncology within a compliant framework, with licensed veterinarians leading clinical decisions.
Timeline
- 2024–2025: Built the technical route for canine personalized mRNA immunotherapy and the partner-hospital network; launched the organoid drug sensitivity testing service.
- 2025: Named "China's Pet Healthcare Industry Dark Horse Brand of the Year" for breakthroughs in precision oncology for pets.
- 2026-08: Moderna and Merck announced their personalized mRNA cancer vaccine (mRNA-4157/V940) met its Phase 3 primary endpoint — the first positive Phase 3 result for an individualized neoantigen mRNA cancer vaccine (Biospace coverage) — validating the global direction of PETcura's own technical route; PETcura continues its canine personalized mRNA immunotherapy IIT in China (learn more).
Organization & technical support
- Sponsor: PETcura — overall coordination, clinical operations, quality control; funds core R&D and manufacturing costs
- Technical advisor: Chuangmo Bio (创模生物) — scientific route assurance and translational experience in human mRNA tumor immunotherapy
- Technical supply: a leading mRNA research institution — neoantigen AI prediction, mRNA sequence design, formulation synthesis, LNP encapsulation, quality release
- Clinical execution: licensed veterinarians at partner hospitals in 9 cities (site PIs) — enrollment assessment, injections, follow-up
Research nature
The canine personalized mRNA immunotherapy is an investigator-initiated exploratory study (IIT) — not a commercially approved veterinary product. The study is at an exploratory stage: enrollment and efficacy are not guaranteed; mRNA immunotherapy does not alter the dog's genome and does not replace standard treatment. All participation requires licensed-veterinarian assessment and signed informed consent.
